The Value of Good Design
Have you ever walked by a restaurant that you’d never set foot in in a million years only to find out later they have the most amazing food? A lot of businesses survive off of word of mouth which is great, especially since it’s one of the strongest forms of advertising, but what about the day to day traffic that passes by? Word of mouth can only go so far. Most business owners start with an idea, or perhaps even a small customer base that grows into something great over time. Unfortunately not all business owners are so lucky and even those who are, still have to battle with keeping those customers on a daily basis. It’s incredibly difficult to forge a long lasting relationship with your customers when the business/customer relationship is so fleeting.
This is where design becomes very important. We live in a world that’s overstimulated when it comes to visual marketing. Everywhere we look, someone’s trying to sell us something. It’s become so engrained in our minds that we don’t even realize it. As a business, it only takes a matter of seconds to get recognized or completely dismissed. Smart branding through good design is the main opportunity for people to take notice of what you’re selling. You may think that focusing on your branding is superficial and you don’t want waste time and money on fitting in, when in-fact it’s actually about standing out.
Good design, or as we like to call it SMART design, isn’t about being flashy or projecting an image that isn’t you in order to attract more business. It’s about finding out what makes you and your business special, what the core values are that you bring to the table, and how can you present that message in every aspect of your business. When people see good design, they know it. It intrigues interest and tells your customers you care about them, and most importantly about what you do.
