Do Facebook Likes Help Business Grow?
“Like” has become a pervasive verb in our collective vocabularies. Depending on who you ask, the word itself has either completely lost it’s meaning, or is now fraught with different definitions. Either way, Facebook’s Like button has become an inevitable, unavoidable aspect of promotion for business, bands, and brands across the world, and yours is not exempt. But how do you get more Likes for your business/band’s page? And not just more likes; better quality likes by people who are actually invested? Do facebook likes help business grow?
Likes for Sale?
Since this is land of capitalism, the first obvious choice is “let’s buy some Likes!” There are myriad companies on the internet who will guarantee a number of likes for a certain price within a certain deadline. One of those companies is BoostLikes. Boostlikes boasts an extremely user-friendly and simple interface: this is how many Likes you’ll get, and for how much. Sounds simple enough. They also pride themselves on the organic nature of the Likes that you’ll be receiving, and that their “…campaigns look very natural, and you will not receive a flood of likes or followers in a short period of time.”
However, upon trying this service for ourselves with a free trial, we found that the Likes that were coming in were of a questionable nature. Most of the likes were non-English speakers (and oftentimes, seemingly children) and each person had almost a hundred different likes that did not relate to each other whatsoever. This is probably fine if you’re looking to simply boost your Like count to appear more official, but we sincerely doubt that these Likes would transfer to natural conversions.

Maybe you’re the type who would rather take a “grassroots” approach and pluck those Likes from the tree yourself. Facebook offers their own advertising at a budget that you set yourself, but the benefits of advertising through Facebook have been dubious at times, and it seems to not always be a reliable source of quality leads. However, others have had success, so it seems that your mileage may vary depending on what it is you’re promoting.

This is really interesting! I had no idea something like this existed. Great post!
